Homemade Pear, Star Anise & Cardamom Syrup
This syrup is so delicious, it’s half tempting to drink it straight out the bottle!
2 cup caster sugar 2 cup water 3 pears 3 star anise 4 cardamom pods
Put equal parts sugar and water (We use 2 cups of each) into a saucepan along with the pears, chopped up into cubes. Allow to simmer until the pears soften . Add the star anise and cardamom pods and allow to simmer for another 10 minutes. Remove pan from the heat and allow to steep for at least an hour. Transfer into a clean glass jar, add a star anise and a cardamom pod and allow to cool. Cover and keep in refrigerator for a month.
