Yes that’s correct, this is what you have all been waiting for over the past year… the release of our 2018 Limited Edition Pride bottles as we celebrate this year’s theme – Colour My World.
In aid of the Rainbow Fund and celebrating the UK’s biggest Pride Festival, we are releasing 1,400 Limited Edition bottles in 8 colour and letter variations. The labels’ colours – pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet – reflect the original colours of the iconic Gay Pride Rainbow Flag. Marking its 40th anniversary this year, it was first used at San Francisco Gay Pride 1978.
A minimum of £2 from every bottle will be donated to The Rainbow Fund, the Brighton and Hove based grant-giving fund for local LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS organisations. The Rainbow Fund was set up by Gscene editor, James Ledward, and Councillor, Paul Elgood. It followed the fundraising for the City’s ground-breaking AIDS Memorial to provide a living legacy for the project.
Our founder and MD, Kathy Caton has the following message:
“Set to be bolder, more beautiful and more brilliant than ever, we’re so proud that we host the UK’s biggest Pride Festival in our free-thinking, campaigning (and hedonistic!) home city. We want to celebrate that ultimate spirit of Brighton and contribute again to the essential work of the Rainbow Fund. Supporting our community is one of our core values and we’re very proud to support the Rainbow Fund.“
The 2018 Limited Edition Pride bottles are designed by the award-winning team that created the original Brighton Gin label. Hand-painted brush strokes were created by designer Matt Holbrow. The 8 different labels align with the original meanings of the Gay Pride flag colours. They reflect the values of sexuality, life, healing, sun, nature, art, harmony and spirit.
